Watching people play games is boring to me. I know everyone has their own thing they enjoy. I don't find it enjoyable or entertaining at all

Never understood why you would want to watch someone play a video game. The closest to that I've ever done is watching people play games in arcades either waiting, or after I ran out of money.

Depending on the game, some do voices that others think are funny. Also, it can help people who are either blind, or are doing something else while they are listening to in game dialogue and such...

As for watching, there are many reasons. From not having money to own it, yet you still want to see the game. Or after youve played a game with various multiple endings and watch to see the others. Or just how other people have played it. I personally enjoy watching games of certain people play, too...

I did it because that's what I prefer watching myself. I can do other things and not pay as much attention or sometimes the text is way too small to read especially if I'm watching on a phone. Also I wouldn't have much to say so it's easier to just read the dialogue. Also I can practice shitty impressions.

I typically watch Dota 2 because you can learn a lot from watching and because you can theorycraft on the fly about what the "right" thing to do is (some streamers do not like backseat gaming though, so you have to be careful about wording).

But if I'm watching some other game, I prefer when the streamer reads the dialogue. Bonus if they can do voices!

I understand why they do, not everyone reads at the same rate.
So by standardizing it, you can make sure everyone has the same experience.

When my buddy and I were teenagers I'd watch him play Genesis games and it was a lot of fun. This being in the same room and etc, I can't really watch somebody else play a game on the internet that I don't know.

My son watched Jack Septic eye play through Undertale. Each episode was 35 minutes I think? I made it 5 minutes before I had enough

Edit- I forgot I watched about 5 minutes of Mark Plier (DePleir?) play Arkham Knight. Those are the only 2 games I have watched someone else play. Only reason I watched them was because they're my son's favorite Youtubers and he begged me to watch with him

I watched JackSepticEye when he had like 5k subs, just because he made videos about VR games, and there were only a small handful of small channels that did VR as early as the DK1. I might have legitimately been one of his first 500 subs.

He acted like a normal human being back then and his videos were informative. Now of course he's an annoying tit for money, doing the happy wheels schtick.

For some reason I stayed subbed for a while, and eventually I was just like, "Why am I watching this?" I went through a single video, I had a headache from his loud noises, and hadn't laughed throughout the entire video anyway. And I didn't even care about this "anime waifu simulator", which wasn't even a funny or interesting game, but brought in millions of views.

Arv likes to scroll and give watches to some things he sees. It helps bring in nastalgia and if Arv hasnt played it also dictates if hes gonna buy it there are nice streamers that dont read dialogue that leave it up for an appropriote Time of not being too short or long if its a speed run obviously its not gonna be readable but Arv doesnt watch speed runs much

As we said, some people like it because they can do other stuff while watching sometimes. Or it can help when watching it on a smaller screen. So, it really does sounds like, "I don't like something, so streamers shouldn't do something that most people that like watching let's plays like".

I agree, I always fast forward through people reading the dialogue when they do that.

Hell, even in games with voice acting, sometimes I get impatient and click through the conversation because I can read faster than there speaking.
