2 weeks ago someone died in an elevator freak accident. there's videos out there it's very graphic.
the inhabitants had to deal with a dead bloody mess inside there till crews got them out.

yea how did this happen? did the doors open but the elevator wasn't there and he walked into the shaft? I saw a movie where that happened once, about a haunted elevator. that's why I always look when the doors open and don't just walk in without paying attention. just in case

As he was walking out of the elevator, it dropped and he was crushed by the roof of the elevator and pulled in between the opening and the shaft. The last you see of him is his head next to his feet as both are pulled in between an opening no bigger than a couple of inches.

Of course helping the girl is the right thing to do, but somewhere I can understand that guy's train of thought. In fact, I think this applies to men in general, not just black(ish) men. A man hanging out with a kid that is not their own offspring tends to set off pedo alerts from people passing by.

I actually work just a few blocks from where this happened. My job requires me to use dozens of elevators every day. Ever since this happened I wait a second or two after the doors open before stepping out now lol.

Yes, I would be wary. If possible, I would call a woman to help the girl, instead of helping by myself. The teachers I know, especially the male ones, won't ever see a child student alone, unless their room door is wide open and another adult is aware of the situation.

Very understandable. I used to teach as well. Although the students were generally young adults (due to it being a vocational school), whenever I'd talk to a student one-on-one, I always made sure the door was kept open for this exact reason, especially with female students. This was also advised by one of my own teachers at the teaching course.

One complaint or misunderstanding in circumstances like these can sometimes instantly ruin your career or even get you arrested, so even if you're trying to help with the best intentions, first and foremost you have to make sure your own ass is covered.
