I currently have 3 hearts and 1 stamina boost. I have 2 spirit orbs so I guess I can do a little more upgrading. I got to an area on my map called Oseira Plains. Right before that I met a quest giver saying they want me to find a Giant Horse and bring it back.

Well... I think I found it... This massive Demon Centaur. I was starting to engage it.. thinking I can possible handle it. Guy pulls out a bow and started charging up a green light.. I saw that and said, No way I can block that with my Boku Shield. I think that will one shot me.

Sure enough. I dodge the first then I was instantly killed. There is no way I should be here at this part of the game right? I think I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque lol

Are you having fun with the game? The weapon breaking mechanic isn't pissing you off the to point of quitting yet?

You have a higher tolerance for this than I do. Couldn't make it past the first few hours before I gave up in frustration.

The giant horse isnt that centaur, iirc thats a really hard enemy. The giant horse is literally a giant horse that you can capture, couldnt manage to do it myself though lol

If they had a way to repair weapons I would have enjoyed it more. But by the time you need better weapons, you can afford to buy them, so I guess it works.

At that point the game is just making you do chores to run around and do pointless shiz wasting time so you're properly geared for the next couple of fights.

It's a mechanic that doesn't respect your time imo. It's a mechanic I would expect from an EA or Activision to force you to buy lootboxes to replace your gear.

I mean, there's not really a wrong place to go, but there are definitely places that will be very tough using just your starting equipment.

why were you frustrated? weapons are everywhere in this game. my inventory was constantly full.

also there's really no wrong way to go tc. i basically just ran around and did whatever i wanted as well after getting to the first quest marker.

The massive open world is cool and all but I wish it was slightly more linear. I run into enemies a lot stronger than me all the time lately. I ran into a Minotaur type enemy on the way. He was big but I thought he was fodder because there was so many of them. 1 hit took off 2 and 3/4s of my hearts. He almost insta killed me. There was a pack of them too

There's no "wrong way", but Lynels are some of the thoughest enemies in the game. You need to be pretty aquainted with the combat mechanics to make the fight more confortable.

Part of the reason I stopped playing the game was it seemed like after a certain amount of hours in Id be getting constantly ambushed by enemies and had no time to enjoy the scenery which is what I loved most about the world.

Lionel's are one of the tougher enemies in the game, you'd be best to avoid them. There's not really a "wrong way to go", it's an open world game and you can go anywhere you feel ready to tackle. You might want to start by focusing on finding shrines and upgrading your heart and stamina containers.

You wont be able to get the giant horse just yet. You need a ton of stamina in order to tame it.

Treat the world sort of like the way an MMO is structured: near towns and major dungeons the enemies tend to be a bit easier, but the deeper into the middle of nowhere you go, the tougher things are going to appear.

IIRC any particularly tough enemy like the lynel are optional and the one you have to deal with it there to teach you how to sneak around enemies.

Yeah. I think 2 stamina bars minimum if I remember right. I think you can either outrun or otherwise just go around the lynel. Or just get good at blocking and parrying and then they're not too bad.

It's an area where there's a cliffside to the west, right? The giant horse should be past the centaur.

Edit: But yeah, with only one bar of stamina you won't be able to tame the horse.

If I had the option to play the game without enemies, I would have taken it. I spent hours just running through the grass or galloping away on my horse. It's was downright therapeutic for me. I don't mind the combat but I'd much rather focus on exploration and entertaining my curiosity.

He could make a bunch of Stamina boosting food to tame it.

I dislike the weapon breaking mechanics, but I never felt ill prepared, even with the base amount of slots, the game always gave me enough to survive for the entirety of the game (I didn't upgrade my slots till nearly 70 hours in).

The enemies and weapon drops both scale with your progression, so dont worry about which way to go. I recommend doing the early main story quests at Kakiriko/Hateno villages before wandering around, though.

Although even some basic enemies like Moblins (the Minotaurs) can be tough in the beginning of the game if you havent found better armor yet and still only have 3 hearts. The Lynels (centaurs) are the toughest enemy in the game and the only enemy you should really avoid until later after youve explored much of the map.

And pay attention to the combat shrine quest at Kakiriko Village, particularly the part about parrying. I sort of forgot about it until way into the game.

Honestly, the game's better if you're left to figure things out for yourself, but there are a couple pointers that can really help:

- make sure to visit Hestu on the road between Dueling Peaks Stables and Kakariko Village (just up the mountain past the bridge). This is something that will make a huge negative impact on your game if you don't meet him early on.

- after meeting with Impa in Kakariko, follow the quest marker to Hateno Village, meet with Purah, and complete her quest. This will let you fill out that remaining rune slot in your sheikah slate, and give you access to rune upgrades.

After that, you will feel a lot more comfortable just charting your own path and going in whatever direction you feel. You'll need to head north from Kakariko to continue getting Hestu's benefits, but I'll let you figure out exactly where to find him on your own.
