I don't use many buffs, potions, magic, etc. I go heavy attack, heavy defense, and if available the best options for crafting and looting/lockpicking

I tend to do all side quests, but avoid NPCs if they don't provide any value.

I'll grind a little bit if I can get a weapon that's strong and I can't afford yet, i'll make sure I have it before I progress. Otherwise I go with the flow of the game.

Fight enemies until I get sick of it, then run from about half of the fights.

No guides -- only exception is sometimes checking to see if a side quest is time gated.

Do not run from battles, if random. Fight them all. This either means no grinding later or you end up over leveled and cruise.

Live off the land like an invading army. I try to buy few to no upgrades. Only buy upgrades when no other options are available.

Depends on the game...some just inundate you with stats and build options at the start and it sucks having to struggle through the game or restart because your guy is gimpy and there is no respec feature, so I'll look up a character creation/build guide and make a complete munchkin

Min/max with minimal grinding. I don't care about missable items because they're usually unnecessary, and a lot of RPGs can be beat with lower than intended levels

Do all the side quests the before even looking at the main quest. In addition, I do what's fun or cool. I don't care at all about what's optimal or strongest. Just whatever I like or think is cool.
