I mean... as ironic as it would seem to hear if you didn't already know... fires are good for forests in that the ash and burnt material provide great fertilizer for new forest to regrow. Kind of like how if you break a bone, the part where it regrows is actually stronger than before.
As far as where the thresh hold is between what makes it an overly destructive fire and a fire that's actually good for the forest? I can't say who is right in this scenario.
