I just finished playing through Jak and Daxter 1-3 with my girlfriend. First one was the best. Second was some bullshit. Third was a major improvement but I still prefer the platforming style of the first one.

Are the other two series similar in any way? Worth playing if I only kind of liked Jak and Daxter?

i played the first one in each series a few summers ago

sly 1 > jak 1 > ratchet 1 (which i never finished)

i'd still like to play the others some time. i wasn't expecting to enjoy any of them as much as i did

Which was the reverse order of popularity at the time unfortunately. Heck I only stumbled upon the sly series by chance, while everyone was talking about jak at the time. And a little bit of ratchet.

Sly Cooper is a great platformer marred by crappy annoying mini games. The second was great in feeling like a Saturday morning cartoon caper. 3rd was the weakest but still ok.

Ratchet and clank is a fun series if perhaps samey so it's best you space out playthroughs otherwise you'll easily burn out.

I have nothing good to say about jak and raise an eyebrow at anyone who did back in the 2000s

Sly Cooper 2 is one of my favourite games of all time. That aside I'm not too keen on the series. I don't think Ratchet and Clank has had a really unenjoyable game in the main series aside from the remake. Dont care about Jak.
