Well, a girI I know works at The New School and makes $48,000, lives with roommates, but is severly struggling. She keeps texting me to hire her as a model to make ends meet.

She spends 3k a month but 50k a year is about 3k a month. So she's exaclty breaking even living in a shared box.

Also she apparently saves 1k a month, which is obvious bullshit if you read my above math. This is some hardcore shilling bullshit perpetuating that poor spending habits are the driving force holding down the younger generation.

(I make 6 figures btw).

I'm not sure what she's perpetuating.

Lots of people do suck very bad with money, especially poor people, so it does have an effect.

She spends about $2200 and saves about $850. I know people making minimum wage that get by with families. A single person is very easy to afford even in NYC. At the same time, I know people making double or triple and they still whine.

She could easily find a studio or apartment in other parts of the city. But lots of people like living in downtown Brooklyn, which is known to be expensive and is entirely on them for choosing an expensive area.

This is why I live in the midwest, I work at literal panera bread right now and I can afford my own apartment, no roomates at all.
