While not everyone who uses racist jokes is by default a racist, racists are obviously more open to using racist joke than non-racists. So if you hear someone make a racist joke, act like you need them to explain the joke. If they are a racist, they will be forced to explain the racist premises of the joke or else lie or deflect. Push for them to explain the joke if they try to avoid doing so, and they will at least become less comfortable with using the joke. If there are other non-racists present, they will think about the premises of the joke themselves and potentially realize that it's a racist joke.

Racism is not normal. Racism should not be treated as normal. Racist jokes perpetuate and normalize racist culture. Don't treat racist jokes as the same as actual jokes. Don't laugh at them, act like you don't understand them. Because they aren't funny unless you hold some racist beliefs, even just subconsciously.

That's a good idea. Living in the South, I've had white people I don't even know come up to me and joke about some racist shit. I usually just don't react and walk off.
