"Take your concern trolling elsewhere. Look it up and stop being an honesty actor"

This is the state of educational discussion in this political climate these days. It's unfortunate how extremists on both sides are driving honest moderates to stop seeking the truth and to flock to the other side's growing extremist tally.

I wonder what went wrong over the past 10 or so years that led to this garbage.

Because the term concern trolling popped out of nowhere.

What led to it is an absolute flood of fake debates, sealioners, trolls, alts, etc that have poisoned debate. So many pretended to want to have good faith debates while actually intending to derail legitimate discussion that it became very difficult to scope out who was doing that and who wasn't.

Once a month, some bad faith actor "asks" why voter ID is racist or why there can't be a white pride month, or what privilege means etc. They claim to be someone neutral just asking questions, but immediately make it clear they are coming in with set views and are not there to learn. That can only happen so many times before people get frustrated.

The emphasis on Antifa only exists to try to make the left look "just as bad" as the side that keeps getting white supremacists into office.

if one is interested in a game coming out, they'll do their research. they research and engage with others, and the quality of the conversation increases when the participants can actually contribute.

the same principle for politics. if one is truly interested, they'd be reasonably informed before hopping into a discussion.

don't burden other people with having to educate you for free. if you don't meet the prerequisites before engaging in discussion, don't come in with a hot take.

There's two main issues that you may not be seeing.

1. A lot of ""moderates"", aren't. They just say that to lecture one side and agree with everything the other side does.

2.

Anyone who "Joins the other side", because someone said mean things to them on the internet... was probably never in the middle. It's often a lame excuse by people trying to stir the pot.

Not saying this applies to you. Just that I get why people who claim they're in the middle aren't trusted.

...I considered myself moderate once, but "unaffiliated" is probably a more accurate term.

This isn't as easy as you're making it. You can find any take you want on the internet. It's very hard to find credible sources for things you're not already well tuned on. It doesn't help you have companies like Google manipulating search results and countries like Russia manipulating Facebook and Twitter feeds. Finding information on the internet you know nothing about when it comes to politics is cancer.

I mean yes but you're ignoring that it's a gradual process. No one becomes alt right or Antifa overnight.
