It's about 30 minutes long, but if this topic interests you it's worth watching. Seems well thought out, for a kinda kooky "What if?" scenario.

Essentially boils down to Konami was pissed that Kojima was spending tons of money developing the Fox Engine, MGS, and his passion project in Silent Hills. They demoted him, promoted some dude that was generating profits for Konami through mobile titles, told Kojima he had two years to finish MGS V before they "fired" him, and made him sign an NDA so he couldn't talk about anything. Ground Zeroes, and more to the point P.T., contained hidden messages from Kojima and were used as a way to get around the NDA and tell the world what was happening to him and his tenure with Konami.

Not sure if I buy it, but it seems plausible.

Konami's CEO got pissed at kojima because he was supposed to be working on the final sequence of the game but when they showed up after it was long overdue they found people working on Otacon's story segment inside mother base, amoung the other extra stuff that ties up the ending of the game

basically they canned the end of the project and even P.T. to move into pachinko
Konami still does some games like yu-gi-oh but that's it really

It was sort of a demo of a potential Silent Hill reboot that ended up being scrapped by Konami.

yeah i call complete bullshit on that. the teaser for TPP was before that 2 year mark, and nobody made that connection before or after, ok?
