Creative Mode can be fun in small doses, but I have no idea why people enjoy Normal mode. The entire gameplay loop focuses on landing on a planet, scanning animals and trees, not finding anything remotely interesting, crafting resources to refuel your ship, rinse and repeat.

Yeah, I picked it back up after hearing about how much better it was recently, but it was still super boring. I understand why people like it, but it's too shallow and too repetitive for my liking. I think the whole open world thing is so overdone now that it detracts from my enjoyment of a game.

Same. But every game isn't for everyone. I can understand that this has a place. I have VR and couldn't really give a shit about trying it. I mean in the other games I have for VR I can face dragons, shoot mobs with crazy guns or ride a rollercoaster while I shoot guns. Walking around a planet scanning shit doesn't warrant having that big ass thing on my head

Borderlands 2 figured out how to utilize both simultaneously, so anyone not doing that now is just being lazy. Not a big loss either way. Now you find a new ship and it's broken so you have to fix it by crafting various junk. Same with finding suit upgrades. It's just arbitrary steps to do the same thing you could before. If you enjoy base building, the game is better, if you don't you'll get so bored before you can get to the other parts of the game you might enjoy --- If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all ...
