I'm thinking:
*$10 if they just drop it off,
*$20 if they unpack it, put it in the laundry room, and dispose of the packaging, and
*$40 if they do the above and install it for me.

Or is that too much/too little?

To clarify, the shipper (Samsung) says it's "white glove delivery", which (when Google'd) can literally mean any of the three options above... So no clue what to actually expect.

If it matters, XPO is the courier.

I thought tip was expected because they're delivering something into your house and setting it up for you, unlike USPS/UPS/FedEx who just drop the package off at the door.

I've tipped for furniture delivery, but this is the first time I'm getting something delivered that needs installation... So not sure if I should extend more tip (if they go ahead and install it for me).

I usually tip 50. It's usually two guys, so 25 each is good.

The most controversial tip I gave for a service in my house was to the Comcast tech who came and installed my internet. I tipped him $20, and he was extremely surprised. He ended up giving me a bunch of HDMI in various lengths (two 50ft ones, because I mentioned I needed long ones) and ethernet cables for free afterwards (which is why I think that was controversial).

I just appreciate not having to deal with it all myself. So having them uninstall your old appliance, hauling it away, and installing your new one just saves me a lot of trouble.

So the old one is going into the second laundry room in the basement, which I already moved (didn't want the delivery guys to give me shit and threaten to not deliver the package to our primary laundry room... If they were this much of an asshole, I would definitely not tip).

Appliance stores usually charge a little extra for installation, over simply having it delivered. So yeah, why would I give a tip for a service I already paid for?
I'm all for tipping food delivery and waiters, but it becomes ridiculous when you start tipping the mailman.

Samsung checkout didn't give me an option for installation. When I called Samsung, they said installation is usually not included, but when I called XPO, they said installation is included. Hence why I'm not entirely sure if I should tip or not...

Like are XPO delivery folks going above and beyond what Samsung paid them? Or is it actually included? Bleh.

Honestly the installation is probably the easier part. Lugging around the appliance is the actual work. They'd just have more deliveries to do if they weren't taking time to set stuff up. Also a dryer installation is a pretty easy process.

For tipping in these situations, I generally change it depending on how much of a pain in the ass it is for them to get in. If I take my door off and theres plenty of clearance for them to get it in the basement they're not getting as much. Conversely, I once had a couch that didn't fit through a stairway so they got it up on top of a truck and brought it in through a window. They got a very nice tip.

Tl;dr:
They'll probably be very happy with $20.

Oh? I watched videos and it seems like you need special valves to install it onto the dryer (why doesn't this come pre-installed at the factory?), then special liquids for the threads and checking for gas leaks.

Hmmm good point. Guess you'll have to ask them when they show up. Installation fees are usually around 50, so I guess it would be a decent tip, and fits with the numbers others gave.

Justified. I wouldn't tip them either.

I usually order my big appliances from Costco which includes delivery, installation, uninstallation, and haul-away into their pricing, and somehow it ends up way cheaper than any other place. So I don't mind tipping those guys.

Gas dryers are more involved on their installation because the items you mentioned are what you need to check for gas leaks on the connections. Even a little leak can be a health/safety issue so having it done by a plumber is best.
