I don't really want a FF6 remake, I think it would ruin a lot of the game's charm if they modernized it

and then Square decided to kill them for no reason. Bravely Default was originally an FFV remake.

For real? I didn't even know that about Bravely.

And it's because of that that we'll never get an FFV or FFVI remake.

In my head I'd love a remake, but in reality I'd probably complain the second they release screenshots of the characters. And they'd probably change the battle system some.

I'd rather they did change the battle system. ATB is the worst I've ever experienced in a JRPG, imo.

This. And FF6 is my second favorite rpg of all time. But a new one doesn't make the SNES version not exist anymore. I like new shit as much as old shit.

Talking about modernization they could make it like an open world game, I'm talking still have an overworld to explore, but each area is an actual place you'd visit similar to the old style of FF overworlds but they can improve upon that also. Inside each zone you take your party of 4, out of the what is it? 16 playable characters in the game?

The gameplay would differ for each character. Sabin would play like Ryu from Street Fighter, combos and all. Shadow would be stealthy and could kill guards / enemies without being noticed and use vector if they want to have some kind of "limit" bar aspect though I'd take it they'd save that for Cyan as an update to his gimmick of literally waiting (for a long ass time) to reach the most powerful abilities.

Locke can loot and unlock chests and doors, Edgar they could update ontop of combat use, using tools to turn gears and other mechanisms in the steam punk like world. Etc. I'm sure they could work it out. To be honest and it might catch people's eye's outside of the market as well. The customization from espers could influence level stats and such, making it a pretty unique RPG experience and still offering that "you reached the next level feeling" of getting stronger.
