Joe Rogan had Bernie Sanders on his podcast, and gave him an open platform to do nothing but speak in depth about the issues America faces and how he thinks they could be solved. In this day and age that alone makes me seriously doubt that he's right wing.

How is Bernie conservative again?

Bernie is left on the spectrum of United States politics but on the spectrum of world politics/world history his positions put him in a place that's center-left. This laughable argument of "Bernie's left of center" --> "hOw iZ bUrNiE cOnSeRvAtIv" really emphasizes the limited range of mainstream politics in the United States today.

Let's frame the discussion as "which of Bernie's positions pull him away from the 'leftist' label?"

-Bernie supported war spending bills in Iraq for a number of years.
-Bernie's protectionist when it comes to workers in the United States vs the rest of the world (see a and b below:)
a. Re: illegal immigration: " Oh my god, there's a lot of poverty in this world, and you're going to have people from all over the world. And I don't think that's something that we can do at this point. Can't do it."
b. See also his support of spending on the F-35 fighter jet, another military boondoggle that he supports for the sake of getting jobs to Vermont.
-Bernie's stance on Israel which has gone more to the left after a lot of pushing from leftists

etc.

I like when nuance in emphasised on. Makes the discussion more worth it.
