According to a recent press release, the patient (whose identity hasn't been disclosed) is improving and has not needed blood transfusionsthe typical treatment for the diseasein over four months.

No, I said it correctly. Its plural. Yes, Vertex in this case, but Merck, Amgen, GlaxoSmithKline, Eli Lilly and Co, to name a few have also invested in CRISPR.
