i have always liked fire emblem games but they really did a great job adding a lot of depth in this one and it is really cool they essentially have three different storylines to maximize replay value. i am playing with the black eagles but plan on playing through again when i finish because i hear the story is significantly different with all three houses

yeah the walking around the town and developing the stats of all your students is a really cool feature that added so much depth to the series imo. fire emblem has always had the prologue and side events but even that feels way more in depth this time

I'm pleasantly surprised, was skeptical on the school thing and most of my problems do come from that aspect, but it's still a damn good game and later on it gets better about balance

Think I'm about to hit the time skip any moment now, on Blue Lions and already this game has my fav cast of characters

Wave 1: Officers Academy outfits for female and male Byleth available at game launch.
Wave 2: Additional Auxiliary battle maps, helpful in-game support items, and more will be released by Oct. 31.
Wave 3: Additional quests and costumes, plus a free update, will be released by Dec. 31.
Wave 4: New story content, with additional playable characters, locations and more, plus a free update, will be released by April 30, 2020.

Yeah this has been a problem for me. I'd rather some 10-12 unit maps but we get a bunch of 7-9 maps

World building was fucking non existent in that game. Kept running into entire countries that werent even mentioned before hand, fucking map was basically a splotch of brown with no details, and there is a bunch of stuff that just doesnt get much background until its too late or just not at all. There isnt really any history on the Holy weapons/the dragons whose blood the royals have. How exactly Garon was turned into a goo monster isnt really explained.

Etc etc.

fates legit had some of the worst writing in any game i've ever played that tried to actually tell a story

in Conquest when that dragon girl character who doesn't do anything for the entire game randomly comes out of nowhere to sacrifice herself against some random generic enemy and the game tries to act like it's some meaningful sacrifice i should give a shit about i legit just put down the game for a long time.

the story was actively detrimental to my enjoyment of the game because i hated all the characters so much

It really isnt if you properly build your team up equally and do all the battles inbetween story battles. Im on Chapter 21 with more than half into the lvl 40's and ive just been fucking mowing through everyone in the last few.

Ive heard this one is the toughest (granted, its the last one so it should be) so we'll see.

Conquest on Hard was a lot more difficult and unforgiving than anything 3 Houses has thrown my way so far. Nothing comes remotely close to Conquest chapter 10, which far from being the hardest chapter, is a notorious wall.

Altohugh to be fair, the rewind mechanic is a godsend (heh) and makes it so you don't have to restart the whole battle each time you make a tiny mistake.

Depending on what you mean by "just started," you probably have another opportunity to select your house for real before you're locked into that decision. You'll get a rough idea of each character

Dont waste your time with seminars

If you want to recruit people start working asap. Getting their support to B is the easiest way imo.

Make sure to keep your student's motivation up for class.

Don't forget to use the garden.

Don't stress about stats, just pick what you think will be fun.

Budding talents are cool, some are useless and not worth the time. Looking at you Hubert.

A lot of old conventions are thrown out the window. You no longer have to waut till lvl 20 to reclass for optimal growth, as class and overall level are now independent from one another and changing into a higher tier class provides your units with better growths, which incentivize upgrading ASAP. If you want to play as blind as possible, I'd recommend changing classes whenever you master your current one. If you want to play optimally, look up which classes provide which skills and decide if it's worth spending a few levels to get a skill or get better growths faster.

Overall, I think getting your units the correct proficiencies is more important. Plan ahead so they have what they need in order to reclass to whatever you have planned for them.

EDIT: I should add, don't waste time resting. There are better ways of getting your students motivation up, and at least in my case, the game made it seem like it was the only way to restore a certain resource, but there are other ways that don't waste an entire free day.
