He is charged with second degree for causing the death of Jamey Newport while committing first degree arson as she was "screaming from help" on the inside and he did nothing... Jamey called police to say her dad was dumping gas in the home and claimed he was going to start a fire according to a complaint She then started screaming and yelling for help and saying she couldn't get out. They had been arguing that night over her plans to move out and into her own place as she was tired of living like they have been for years and wanted to have a "better life" for herself.. John did not take that well and presumably hatched this plan to kill her while also destroying their home A police officer saw black smoke coming from the front entry of the mobile home when he first arrived. He ran to the door to try and get in but was unable to due to the fire He heard screaming from the rear and grabbed a fire extinguisher and managed to break it down and deployed the fire extinguisher to tackle the flames but he was unable to save Jamey as the home became fully engulfed and was forced to move back John was also SCREAMING from the front door as the home was burning as police officers had to restrain him when he tried to run through the door and then through a window on a second attempt to gain entry Firefighters arrived and began to extinguish the fire and found Jamey inside as CPR was performed before she was transpored to hospital where she was pronounced dead FB posts showed that he was going to burn down the mobile home as evidence of a gas can and lighter were discovered.
