The only thing better in the depp one was that it showed the kids as they left the factory. I thought that was cool. And Violet was the only one that actually appreciated what happened to her and learned a lesson.

Other than that, trash movie.

I preferred the original, but I didn't care for how it promoted smoking. A family that low on money and both Charlie and his mother complain when Grandpa Joe says he wants to stop buying tobacco. Like, really? I'm surprised they bought it in the first place instead of more food.

Also RIP Denise Nickerson who passed 3 weeks ago.
