I don't see why I'm supposed to care about how much money a movie makes.

Does that even mean anything anymore? It seems like there's a new movie topping $1B every week.

It is crazy how different things are now. I remember when The Dark Knight barely making a billion was a huge milestone.

Allegedly, behind the scenes, marvel needed to make a billion with this to keep themselves in the picture creatively. Otherwise full control would've went back to Sony as it was before. So this is great news.

Oh, so that is why there was no Spider-Man announced at comic con?

Cause I thought it was weird we wouldn't be seeing a Spider-Man film before 2022 considering how they ended FFH

These numbers aren't adjusted for inflation so why do people get hyped about them?

I think it's because it would be announced by Sony and not Disney. It's probably going to be released Summer 2021.

Correct. Also the Venom/Spiderman crossover as well. Sony plans to do it, marvel is open to them doing it in the MCU, but it is ultimately Sonys decision if it happens in the MCU or if it becomes its own thing.

Spider-Man announcements are done by Sony anyway.

Think its around $5-6 billion.

edit: looks like the MCU is at ~$8.48 billion domestically.
