Female Thor shows up out of nowhere and nobody knows who she is, but you find out that it's Jane Foster and she has cancer. So for this to be announced and to hear that the original Jane Foster who had a pretty small role in the first Thor movie, coming back to become female Thor, is just insanity. An interesting build on his character after Ragnarok which was all about finding his identity without it now it's going to be about someone else taking it on. The cool thing about this next phase is that I have no real idea what any of these movies will be like outside of Blade.
