All the games you played when you were younger are extremely dead and irrelevant now.

All you have are those cherished memories you got from playing them.

For me, that last good game I remember loving the crap out of was Transformers Fall of Cybertron. And now it's dead forever.

Fuck growing old.

Those old games I used to love are still relevant to me. Morrowind and Diablo II, for example, are still playable to me. Of course there is some nostalgia for when I first played them, but I still play them, so...

I disagree on the games front as I still enjoy the classics. Hell I love playing retro games. However in general growing old sucks as not only am I getting closer towards death but I often think what the hell am I doing with my life. It also doesn't help when I see folk at life goals that I want to achieve. C'est la vie I guess.

Older games which only had singleplayer or local multiplayer will always be relevant to me too but I was reminiscing about certain online games with more focus on playing with others and how sad it was to see those games dead and forgotten.

I remember way back in before the 2010s where almost any game with an online component always had people playing it.

Nowadays, a game is lucky to still have an healthy community after a measly year(except for the big boys like CoD, Battlefield, other AAA games, etc.).

In that case I agree. For me it's Guild Wars. God I miss that game. I miss buildcrafting with friends for running dungeons and elite areas.

I cherished my games back in the day much more than I do now, but it wasn't so much because of my youth - it was because my parents only bought me a couple a year.

for the most part there aren't really any games that i can't somehow go back to.

only big losses have been wolfenstein enemy territory (online, long dead afaik), and EVO (only way to play is emulation or to have the actual SNES cartridge). both are still arguably accessible though, just a pain in the ass to get to.
