I was kinda worried about how actively unnecessary it would feel in real time but I honestly stopped caring very early doors. It was funny and sweet and mostly p well paced (felt the back third was probably a little overstuffed) and looked great so I was like w/e. You could make these things endlessly and as long as the quality kept up I wouldn't care I think.

Kinda sad a lot of characters get next to no screen time now but part of the new cast revolving door. I really liked the character development of bo and imo her jumpsuit was cool Christina hendricks did a great job with gabby although I feel they didn't bridge the gap between her being apparently crazy/evil and her being a sympathetic character enough. Key and Peele were great too.

Idk are they gonna do a 5 and how they'd do it.

i mean i feel 2, 3 and 4 have basically all been riffs on the same central idea but fuck it, it's fun

It was better than it had any business being, but it still felt largely unnecessary.

so i enjoyed it first of all but i didn't think the film was strong enough to warrant them needing a fourth. i get what they aimed for with the concept of being a lost toy fulfilling the 'circle of life', and ultimately questioning what is a toy

buuuut the best thing about TS4 was definitely forky. i relate to his existential crisis of who he is and being created from trash. and he is also trash. then his whole journey through the film with woody and the other toys. he's definitely the best of the newer characters

you're right tho bo was awesome but it would have been nice to see more from the other toys. they also could have went more into the mindset of gabby because i felt the switch from heel to face wasn't that well executed

lol as i said once it got going i was like yeah fuck it, i'm cool with this. but I do think it's justifiably interesting enough to explore what happens when you have an old toy passed around for generations and how that impacts on them as they become less and less 'favoured'. it was a bit on the nose from woody at times but overall i was down with it.

yeah i really enjoyed the morbid nigh-on existential gags with him. although i didn't really like how easily gabby manipulated him lol

yeah i thought she had a good presence overall and her + the vincents were quite distinctive and added a weird sort of mild horror overtone to proceedings...buuuuut i'd agree otherwise. it was like she just went from being really manipulative and every other character calling her evil/crazy and then suddenly to what we were meant to perceive as sympathetic. like fuck, she basically manipulates woody at his lowest with information she shouldn't know and then a few scenes later she's one of the gang.

for some reason i'm really fascinated by the like...lore going on there and it's a pity they didn't go into it more. like her and woody being old toys from the same factory or the book that accompanied her and how that affected her.

My thoughts are generally in line with everyone here.

Movie felt unnecessary, but was fun overall. Key and Peele characters were fun, but felt completely unnecessary to the plot. Keanu's character also felt like they needed to shoehorn another plot in there that was resolved in less than 5 minutes of screentime.

Overall, Forky and Gabby Gabby were the most compelling new characters. I always find it fascinating how Pixar can throw in such adult (and sometimes) dark themes into children's movies and make them family-friendly. Who would of thought parents would take their kids to a movie about a suicidal spork?

As far as returning characters, Woody and Bo got some good development. It's a shame that none of the others did. But I guess the movie would have been too bloated otherwise. I guess Jessie got a few notable scenes in.

Lastly, on a personal note, I'm thrilled they had a cameo from RC. He was my favorite character in the first movie and was sad he was absent in the third. Great that he got a central role in a scene, even if it was only during a flashback.

I liked it. Didnt love it. Felt really unneeded. Especially considering Rashida Jones wrote it.

It was good, but the one hangup I have with the movie that I absolutely cannot get over is how little the OG cast (Hamm, Rex, Jessie, et al) was in it.

Toy Story 3 did such a fantastic job bringing in new characters, while still having the original toys as main characters. This one was all about the new characters and Woody. And Bo.

I agree in theory but also I don't really see how you could fit the entirety of the existing cast into the themes of this film without it seeming extremely awkward. Like woodys feelings of inadequacy are squarely his own, same with the various lost toys that we meet. The others are used to being in their current position and are contented with that. It would be weird to have them make an about face in order to fit into that imo

I will have a look later

Also I saw a story about forky toys being recalled which is obviously bad but I love how they're making toys of him to begin with lol
