goldenBoi45 07/07/19 4:28:02 AM #1:	(80/80) I also work like 40-50 hours a week so it gets hectic af at times but I swear I love this shit. Life is just good in general. I've only been in Miami about a year and have made so much progress I actually surprised the shit out of myself. I went from being homeless to having my own apartment, which feels so great, just to have that weight off my shoulders. I also went from being totally unknown in the comedy scene to hanging out smoking blunts with Kyle Grooms at his crib, having drinks with Larry Dogg, and performing for both of them in shows. I actually got my first paid gig from Larry Dogg. He only paid me $50, and it cost me $80 in Ubers to get there and back so I basically PAID $30 to perform, but it was still awesome lol. Also met Carlos Mencia and Dante Nero. They were polar opposites. Carlos was a total lame and just sat in the back watching our sets, but didnt say hi to anyone and left halfway through the show. Dante hung out and smoked mad blunts, talked with the comedians all night even after the show was over. Very cool and humble dude. Anyways sorry for the blogFAQs but I just feel great at the moment. I also made a couple topics about being homeless in Miami so I thought I would let you guys know I'm doing alright. --- Getting girls is all about honesty. I had to stay out in the sun all day and it was tough, had to sleep on the beach some nights and in a Hostel on other nights, but I ended up saving up like 1,000 dollars. My friend was moving out of his apartment so he just let me take over the lease. After that I got a job at a smoke shop which pays me pretty well, like 500 a week after taxes without overtime. I managed a fairly well known (nationally) comedy club for quite awhile, and we ran our local scene the same way. You would get nothing to start, just 3-5 minutes in an effort to get some kind of material together. Then if you were lucky (and good) you could make anywhere from $15-60 a show depending on how many minutes you did, if you were also MC or not, and what night of the week. Then if you kept at it, proved you were reliable, proved you were working on your craft, you got a chance to headline a Sunday or Monday night show, get $100, and keep getting your name out there. It wasn't a living for most of our comics, but we also had quite a few who ended up moving to LA and getting writing/acting jobs, or being taken on the road by national headliners like Ralphie May, George Lopez, Dave Chappelle, etc. As long as you're passionate about it, keep creating material, and taking as many gigs as possible, eventually you'll get paid. How many sets had you done at that point? Was it literally your first? You didn't come across as nervous at all, outside of reading your jokes off your papers. Your time was spot on assuming that was supposed to be a 5 minute set. That wasn't my first set but it was pretty early on, maybe like 5-6 sets in. Reading off the paper was kind of my early schtick but I dont use notes anymore. I had practiced that set multiple times and timed it each time, i wanted to squeeze in as many jokes as I could without going over 5 minutes. I now have a "tight 5" memorized that pretty much always kills. I use that 5 minutes for when I get guest spots to make sure that I kill for that show and make a good impression. Then i have like 10-15 minutes of other material that also works but I'm still working on in open mics and showcases. Plus I'm always trying new shit --- Getting girls is all about honesty.
