Moving to a new place in a couple of days but he says rent has to be in cash. I dont have any ATMs nearby and I dont drive. Also if the ATM doesnt match my bank I have to pay an extra fee to withdraw. How do i get this piece of shit to accept a damn e transfer like everyone else in this decade?

Why only cash? What proof does he give you back to show you paid it?

He wants cash only so he doesnt have to report the income.

Send him a check. Its legal tender and he has to accept it. You have no legal obligation for cash only.

Lol, that's greasy as fuck. I used to give my landlord cheques but we soon switched over to e-transfers and it's just so much better in every way. I can't imagine anything being more convenient, really.

His asshole landlord had to accept the check. Its a form of payment. Unless TC signed some backwoods contract that says payment must be in cash only (which likely wouldnt even hold up in court), his landlord is just avoiding a paper trail.

Its smarter anyway. You can even set it up to where he has to sign for it so you can prove it was sent. I had to do that with one psycho landlord that stopped cashing checks and started threatening us so I could prove in court she was being paid.

Landlords can be real assholes.

Checks and postal orders are not legal tenders and are accepted only at the option of the creditor, lender, or seller. Also called lawful money.

I know many places that no longer accept checks.

Where I work the price for parking is just about as much as renting a second apartment so why the fuck would I bother?

Good for you. Unless TCs rental contract says no checks, then the landlord can cash them.

Its also a secure way for the renter to prove payment. Only a moron would do cash only in any capacity as a renter. Landlord could say you never paid him.

Just as easy as TC going to his bank and getting the cash money he needs.

If only they made something that tells you that you bought or paid for a service......what was it again? Can anybody help me out here?........Oh yeah, it's called a receipt. You know, those little pieces of paper the stores give you after you buy your groceries or what a repairman gives you after he fixes your hot water heater and you give him his payment.

Also, I pay cash for my rent as well. My landlord hands me a slip of paper that tells me that I have paid. Something to show Judge Judy if I ever sue for my security.

While he doesn't have to take a check by law, if he will only take cash and nothing else, that's very worrying. How will you prove that you already paid him if a dispute comes up? Why is he trying so hard to avoid any kind of paper trail?
