Boeing essentially lets the aviator have near full control of the plane's systems. This means in an extreme situation the pilot can recover the plane. Airbus builds a certain envelope into their aircraft which the aviator cannot override. This means extreme situations are usually avoided. But one never knows when some outside force necessitates an extreme recovery move that they won't let the pilot recover from. The counter argument is that the airbus will not let the aircraft get into such dangerous environments in the first place compared to Boeing. The Boeing will make a good pilot look like a good pilot. The Boeing will make a bad pilot look like a bad pilot. The Airbus will make a good pilot look like a mediocre pilot. The Airbus will make a bad pilot look like a mediocre pilot.
