Kitchen managing

Fathers Day is our busiest day of the year (Mothers Day second, Veterans Day third.)

I cooked, cleaned, talked to tables, had people yell at me, comped probably a thousand dollars in food, and a million other things.

Normally the kitchen manager would be gone before close, but this was my first fathers day as kitchen manager so I stayed the whole time.

Toward the end I just ended up being a cheerleader to my employees. Were almost there! You guys are doing a great job! Beers on me when were finished!

We served around 1600 people, and 1550 of them left happy. Those other 50 can go fuck themselves.

Sadly, all most managers care about are those 50... And it drives employee's batty IME because they get lamblasted for stuff likely beyond their control when they did nothing wrong and everything.

I agree. It sucks when I have to spend time trying to make things right with a guest that is just a picky douchebag. I had two guests yell at me yesterday and I had to stand there like Im so sorry.

This first one was this lady at a party of five, all five got bone in ribeyes (the cowboy), all cooked medium rare. When they all came out, all of her families steaks were cooked perfectly and hers was medium. She sends it back and the server brings it to the kitchen and is like I need a new one. Okey dokey no problemo. Next one comes out and I take it to the table and the lady sees me coming and straight up yells at me FUCK that took forever. My family is done eating. I dont even want it anymore. Throw it away. This refire came out in five minutes because I had my cook take one that he was cooking for another ticket. So Im like Im so sorry mam, would you like me to box it Togo for you? And she is like no Im not hungry anymore I wanted to eat it with my family. Take it off my bill and throw it away. I thought you were a steakhouse. I thought you guys knew what you were doing.

And Im just standing there like Im soooooo sorry. The rest of the people at the table all looked so embarrassed. I ended up comping the whole bill. 160$.

People are such assholes sometimes.
