We have users here associating being cute with being childlike and using the two synonymous as if they're one and the same.

They may act childlike in a skit or possibly backstage, but their objective is presenting an image that is endearing and profitable.

If Lady Gaga put on a Japanese schoolgirl outfit and proceeded to act as cutesy as possible, would you assume she's trying to act like a child or simply alluring an audience with her endearing behaviour? Now if she begged for a lollipop and threw a fit when she doesn't get one, then that's acting like a child.

And yes you did reinforce what my argument was about earlier about the industry capitalizing on these girls being available and cute like a child or school age person even though that some may be in their 20s.

"Cute" as an adult mean something different than "childlike cute". Please know the difference.

So your issue is more with people who aren't their intended demographic (older individuals) being engrossed with them due to the image they're presenting and them capitalizing on that. I highly doubt these girls are putting on a performance for an older audience and them being cutesy and childlike resonates better with their younger audience.

There is a phenomenon, though, consisting of older men being allured by these young J-Pop idols which is a whole different ballgame.

That's something you came up with on your own because that's how you perceive idol groups to be like, whereas I don't necessarily see it the same way.

I'm also under the impression you're assuming that I'm sexualizing these performers. Sexualizing would be seeing them as sex objects; it's way different from calling them cute given cuteness and endearment don't always correlate to sex.

In other words, calling a girl cute =/= calling a girl hot. People in general are drawn by cute things.

I never mentioned I wanted her to maintain her purity. That is how her agency dictates her life, not me. Personally, I feel women like her shouldn't have to maintain a public image for the sake of her fans, but that's just how the industry in Japan works. Imagine if someone like Selena Gomez wasn't allowed to hook up because it'll ruin the fan's perception of them. It's a tad ridiculous.

Plus this topic is more praising her cuteness, whereas the other one is praising her physical beauty. She's 20. She's done modeling before. Can't just dismiss that.
