Turn based Final Fantasy games are a thing of the past and they are trying to make the new combat fun and engaging and it looks like they're doing a pretty good job.

They want to try to appeal to old fans and new, pretty tough to do.

So why didn't they just stick to turn based with the IP that became famous on turn based combat and instead do a new IP for action games. Kingdom Hearts is a great example of a new IP that became insanely popular.

Instead we have bravely default and Octopath traveler as replacements. And they don't even try and do decent stories in either of those IPs.

This is coming from someone who loves Crisis Core and beat Dirge of Cybrus. I don't care if they make action or fps games but don't only make those. Mix that shit up or do spin offs or whatever. But give the old fans something with substance considering how long we've been here and all we've been through with SE.

People were actually more critical of this because of that. It's just in their recent showcase they've hit the designs spot on and the gameplay looks arguably better than the other two.

The game being divided into episodes is the one thing I agree is BS. There's no reason for it. Especially when you consider SE doesn't even know how many episodes there will be.

Everything else I'm fine with, but not it being episodic.

I don't have to be content with anything. This isn't a new thing from me, I hate that company for what it's done to Final Fantasy. Have for a long time. I will never play this game, and I have known that for a long time.

I'm just getting triggered right now because I keep seeing so many people hyped for this, when it objectively is about to ruin the entire lore if they're going to spend 40 hours in the first 5% of the game

I feel like people are being disingenuous about the whole episodic thing. I mean yeah it appears that the first part will only be Midgar but by all appearances, it looks like they will be presenting the game in much larger detail, changing mechanics, and pretty much creating the assets for it from scratch. The whole experiences appears to be much grander than the original. If they plan on making the whole game like this, it would be many many years before the full game came out.

I could understand if they were simply upgrading the graphics and what not but still releasing it episodic, but it feels like they are doing much more than that. It looks to be a unique experience.

As a true real FF fan who isnt stuck into their first FF game to fangasm over wanting all other FF games be the same I think it looks great. If you eant the same game over and over again play Dragon Quest and Tales series.

It isn't anger, it's expectation of disappointment. I know I will not like the combat at all. It's be since X-2 I liked the combat in a Final Fantasy. The series has been dead to me for a long time now. This just hit harder because all I want was a graphic upgrade [which we have all known wasn't going to be the case], and that's what Final Fantasy 8 is getting right now. It's like salt in the wounds

I've been a fan of FF since the first one. I still have my NES and copy of the first FF. Turn based RPGs made up a large part of my childhood gaming. I still like them but my interest in them has waned.

My interest in the remake is simply it's a different take.

Well yeah, what it did for its time cant really be replicated. Yeah games these days have lots of detail in them and what not but those games arent FF7. I think a lot of people are interested to see what they can do with FF7
