Nah the boss has a splashscreen, you face it after beating the three floors per stage

did you ever play Rhythm Heaven on the DS? there was an extra game mode where theres a drum beat and a bunch of arrows around you. you had to hit a button when the beat AND the direction you wanted to go matched. it was hard and i hated it and never did it.

this is pretty much the same thing, but fun and without the directions around you. theres music bumping, and you gotta move and attack on beat. if you dont, you just do nothing. besides that gimmick, its a dungeon crawling rogue-like.

No he's a sub/floor/miniboss. You have to kill him to move further in the crypt. Also before the song of the floor ends. If you don't...well here's spoilers.

If the song ends, you get dropped into a cage match arena onto the next floor with the previous floor's boss and 2 or 3 extra enemies thrown in. You're limited on space so it's extra hard, it's meant to punish you for not finishing the floor before the song ends.

If you need help with anything feel free to ask me. I beat it on a pretty hard mode with Old lady that dies in one hit, dies if you miss a beat, and can only use daggers. Love the game.

If you find the moving to the beat hard, you can always play as the bard and beat the game that way. It helps to learn how the floors usually work out, and how the enemies move and what the bosses are like so you don't get punished for seeing it for the first time. Love Fortissimole and the Notorious D.I.G. The unholy moley, underground bully...

Wow I just realized I never helped you with the minotaur.

The minotaur does a charge attack. You 100% want to move out of the way. Once you dodge him he will keep running in a straight line until he hits a wall and then fall down. You can go for a hit then or right after you dodge him.

Also important way to play the game is to dig to stall for time and get in sync with monsters too. Often times you'll be in a position where moving to attack will lead to you taking damage as the monster is moving into you then. If that's the case, dig, and then attack.

3-4 minutes? It'll be pretty clear when the song is about to end. The song changes in tune and the beats at the bottom turn red. They won't speed up or anything.

I recommend doing the little tutorial thing so you learn the dragon dance at least, I just started playing it and saw one and realized how hard they can be for a first timer.

Any good way to beat the Necrodancer? I keep getting killed around the time black skeletons spawn. I only ever got the magic lute once. Playing as Cadence.

The most important thing to learn in Necrodancer is enemy movement and attack patterns. Keeping the beat is a good start but it means nothing if you dont know what youre getting yourself into.

@TheBlueMonk_ the tutorials are on the right side of the hub area.

(almost) any wall with a crack in it can be bombed to reveal a secret room, usually an unconventional type of shop like shops that take blood instead of gold or sell you random items.

In Zone 4, areas start spawning that are inaccessible unless you bomb them. In most cases, it's a potion which provides a one-time full revive from death. I've also seen some shops with no doors and you had to bomb the golden walls to get in.

By the way, bombing golden walls is a pretty good way to get money. You can also bomb the shopkeeper to kill him (warning he's tough)

Those walled off areas can spawn in every area, not just zone 4.

Also worth noting that bombs can break open crates and barrels, but so can spike traps and trapdoors (the item falls to the next floor)

I haven't played it, but from what I understand, it's a dungeon-crawler, but everything, even moving, is done to the beat of the music. If you miss the beat, you fail whatever action you were doing, up to and including using items.

You dont use up the item or spell though, missing the beat just skips your turn and resets the gold multiplier. Except for a few of the unlockable characters who die if the miss a beat.

It's a rhythm-based roguelike

I describe it a rhythm-action rogue-like dungeon-diver.

Its currently my six year olds favorite game. He can routinely get through the first zone. But hes been playing a while. Persistence is key, and getting diamonds is more important than beating the zone most of the time.

Also, local co-op is a blast, but dont do it with a bard involved.

Somewhat, they're useful for breaking higher tier walls, doing aoe damage, getting extra gold (blowing up the gold walls in the shop), and blowing up gold (if you're playing monk). Overall useful things to have. Oh yeah and blowing up crates and barrels duh. Traps too can get blown up.

PM me if this isn't helpful enough, but...bombs are really helpful in this case, you can blow up the stage to get to the necrodancer and lute faster than syncing up with your dad to hit the switches. I'd recommend not caring too much about your dad taking damage as he's pretty tanky, just go ASAP for the necrodancer to kill him and fight is over. Once you get the lute you shouldn't worry about the enemies too much. It's a pretty OP item if you play it right. Again once you get the lute go straight for the necrodancer, you'll be dealing damage along the way.
