The other thing I would recommend is take everything you can off your walls. We found a nest or 2 on the back of a few pictures on the wall.

hi. i'm an expert at killing bedbugs. i dealt with them twice in my life and successfully purged them, and i also purged them for two other people who suffered them.

diatomaceous earth is definitely your best friend, but you have to do so much more. don't worry, you don't have to throw away any furniture or clothes, but you will have to treat them. please wear a protective mask while you apply DE. cover your eyes, your mouth and your nose. i use goggles and a facemask, cheap and they work. be careful not to inhale DE. even if you have the food safe variety (you absolutely must use the foodsafe, not the other kind), it can still fuck up your mouth, throat and lungs </3

first off, you're going to make your house fucking weird for a while and make some lifestyle changes but just bear with it. the first thing you need to do is buy a bunch of tupperware bowls or plastic bowls (make sure they're sturdy ones like tupperware) and smear the insides of them with vaseline. put the feet of your furniture in the bowls, then smear the legs of the furniture as well. above the smears, add double-sided tape just for extra security. you only have to do this on furniture you sit or sleep on, though - bedbugs hide in those, but not usually in things like bookshelves or tv stands. they're after you and nothing else, so they will congregate in places you spend lots of time.

then, buy the diatomaceous earth, a funnel and two ketchup bottles. make absolutely sure that it is food-grade, there is a kind that is food safe and a kind that could fucking kill your pets. make. sure. empty the ketchup bottles, rinse them out, let them dry and then funnel DE into them. with these, you can squeeze the bottle for easy and thorough application of DE. after this, buy mattress seal bags for all mattresses and boxsprings you have. that's where you will start. blast your mattresses and boxsprings with DE, and then put them inside the sealing bags. don't put your sheets back on yet, but it is okay at this point to sleep on your bed - if the legs are treated with vaseline traps and sticky tape, and the mattress and boxspring are treated and sealed, the bugs will not be able to get to you. you can sleep peacefully! =)

but you're not done obvs. take your mattresses, your pillowcases, and ALL your clothes, and launder them. please don't use a public laundromat if you can avoid it, that would give them a chance to spread to someone else. but if you have no choice, just inspect all of your clothes, etc before you take them out of the house. make absolutely sure. check all seams, pockets, everything. anyway, dry them on high heat. two times should do it, but three times to be absolutely sure. this will kill any bugs in your clothes and bedding. keep them in plastic garbage bags in your car. you're going to be living like this for up to three months but it's better than having fucking bed bugs

finally, take your DE applicators and blast... everything. fully line your home, like you're tracing the walls with it. aim it into all corners, high and low. aim it into nail holes, cracks, etc. then blast your furniture. aim for all seams, that is where they like to hide. be thorough. your house should look like nobody has lived in it for a while. dust everywhere.

at that point it's just a waiting game. they're usually all dead within a couple weeks but leave your home like this for several months because bedbugs can go a really fucking long time without feeding and can go dormant and then return. fuck. bedbugs.

i hope this helps you and anyone struggling

Thank you so much. Hopefully I can get my family on board with this and we can exterminate the fuckers.

People will tell you that it's your fault somehow. But it's not. Anyone can get bed bugs. They also are not drawn to a mess like the myth says. Even an insane neat freak can get bed bugs. They don't care about messy homes. They are not attracted to trash. They are drawn to the smell of human blood and nothing else

And it's very easy to get infected and very hard to be rid of them. Especially if you are in an apartment building. You can get them out of your apartment but if they still exist in the building they can always come back

I dealt with them in one state then moved like 2 thousand miles away and got more in a new place

This. People don't understand them. Once they're in the place, they are very tough to get rid of. They live in the walls and feed at night. Cleaning won't do anything. They'll just come right back out the next night.

All you can do is try and ensure you don't take them with you when you move because of you do, they'll just keep on being a problem everywhere you go.

I'm not sure if having the infested place go uninhabited for a long period of time to essentially starve them to death is feasible, but I know they are pretty resistant to extermination so I wouldn't know exactly what to do. They are not any kind of DIY fix though.

They can go a long time without feeding before they starve, like 5 months or something.

Yeah, that other user who made the long posts seems to know what they are talking about.

I made up a long detailed anti bed bug regimen post before. I'll see if I can find it.

I dealt with this before and home games it for about 200 bucks compared to the 4000 terminex wanted

My advice is to burn the house down.

Burn them all!

(Joking aside, yeah you want to nip this in the bud right now from what I've heard about bed bugs.)

I did the bedframe-feet-in-oil-tupperware trick, worked wonders. Bedbugs can't cross that threshold
