Yeah, I get it, that is the point of JRPG's... and I've played and enjoyed other JRPG's... but damn this game takes it to the absolute extreme. It's also not a game you can pick up and put down. You have to sit down and devote time because you might beat the boss at the end of the mission/chapter you're on... but on the way back to town where you can save you'll get a surprise encounter or 'training' session that you can't advance through until you win. Orbal energy is best compared to electricity imo. The jrpgs I'm fond of, bravely default and etrian odyssey aren't known for their stories so I'm looking forward to see what a good storytelling game is like. That said, bravely default and etrian odyssey had amazing music and I still listen to their tracks years after I've been done with them so I'm most curious to see what the music is like. i think the music is really strong and tbh there isnt any aspect of the game that isnt really good imo. idk if you put much stock in reviews but both the cold steel games already localized get almost universally stellar reviews and will give you a pretty detailed idea of what to expect My preferred games usually put their cards in the endgame content and reviewers rarely beat games and if they do its usually only to the first credits so they tend to not be reviewed as well despite their 100% completion being more challenging and satisfying. I dont put much stock in reviews in that sense. But if a game is well reviewed that usually means the content and gameplay that did manage to get experienced was enjoyable and catchy enough to get them to like it. Thats a good sign. That also makes me question it being a slow burn since if impatient reviewers universally like a game it must not take that long to get to the action. Edit: Apparently it's just a problem on the Pro because it runs on my regular PS4 just fine with barely any drops.
