Why did she let Cloud lie to the group in Kalm?

I'd have to check to be sure but IIRC she participated in Cloud's delusion because she was in denial about what happened, my own interpretation is that she had PTSD from the event, but that's not stated outright.

To be fair Cloud's story isn't far off from the actual event either, he was just a random grunt instead of first class SOLDIER. He was still there and still fucked Sephiroth up

Zack was a chad while Cloud was a beta poser.

She flat out says why later in the game.

Cloud knew things he shouldn't have known; things he only could have known if he was there, but to her knowledge, he wasn't there. She knew he had put himself in Zack's place, but she didn't know how he knew all the details he did.

She was afraid bringing it up would make him worse, since when she first found him, he was barely hanging on to sanity. So, she chose to stay quiet and see what would happen, while keeping an eye on him.

No she knew what she believed was correct but it's like one of the above users said.

Everything Cloud is saying is correct except for Cloud himself so that begged the question of how did he know what happened if he wasn't there? Tifa couldn't confront Cloud about it until she knew for certain of how he knew what happened but that became a moot point anyway when Sephiroth forced her to confront Cloud.

Basically, she found him mumbling and broken until she said his name, at which point he seemed to instantly snap back to reality except with a story of his past that didn't quite add up. Then he starts telling a story of a deeply traumatic event in her life that she knows he wasn't there for, but which he knows in such perfect detail that it seems impossible for him to be making it up. So she stays quiet while she tries to figure out just what the fuck is going on, because from her perspective it's impossible for him to be telling the truth (she knows he wasn't there) but it's also impossible for him to be lying (he had to be there to know everything about the incident that he did).

I dont get why this gets asked so much when it is explained ingame. I guess people forget the reasoning when they go back to replay it? I as well Im replaying and someone else replaying asked me and I couldnt remember exactly why.

But then they get mad and confused a the fact she lets her friend tell lies to boast in front of his buddies without humiliating him.

I think Tifa didn't correct him because she was afraid what might happen if she did. Kinda like, if reality had been altered in some way, and mentioning that might cause some paradox event.

That's kinda how my 15 year old mind interpreted it when Tifa said she didn't want to correct Cloud because she was afraid of what might happen.
