Even now games don't actually need to be enhanced for it.

Outer Wilds and Void Bastards are both major games releasing on Game Pass recently and neither of them are enhanced. So you're basically playing games designed for the base console anyway.

Being at the mercy of developers is always going to be an issue for consoles. Even if it's a premium model.

It's a gimmick like the Wii remote.

don't compare games to feces -- if you've an opinion worth mentioning, do so civilly

Even without tgr hdr and 4k graphics it will play games better and give you a higher/solid fps.

It will only go as high as the max framerate. So if a game caps at 30fps it won't go higher.

Like it's stupid to be locked into playing a 720p/30fps game on the Xbox One X but that's how it is. I thought it only happened to older games but it can still happen which sucks.

This is a big part of why the upgraded mid-gen consoles seem largely pointless to me. The vast majority of newer games are still going to be gimped by the limitations of the standard base console.

Time is a funny thing. There is always too much of it, except when you need it the most. Then there is never enough.

Sure but this isn't a case of that. They have the option to use the Xbox One X to raise the resolution, general IQ or framerate but they're not always taking advantage of that.

It's more similar to those PC ports that are locked to console settings.

Of course the Xbox One X version doesn't get pushed to its limit because the game needs to take the base console into account but that's not what I'm talking about.

It would be neat if Microsoft let users to increase the resolution in a menu somewhere if the developers haven't done anything but I guess that's not what consoles are.
