used to have a facebook account, which i closed a while ago

the constant and vapid displays of narcissism on there just became way too much for me (not that i didn't used to engage in that kinda thing too) - like, shit was straight disillusioning

and honestly, if your "friends" aren't people who can be bothered to maintain regular to semi-regular contact with you (whether it be through texts, calls, or even - god forbid - meetings in person when possible), and all you know them for are where they went on vacation recently or what they had for lunch the other day or whatever other dumb thing, then they really aren't people worth knowing at all imo

i also started to value my privacy a lot more within the last year or two or so, so there was that too

I use Twitter because it's the only social media platform where you can choose just how much of your information to display, and it's a good aggregate for relevant news, should you choose to use it for that.

no offense, but i feel like people who view social media the way you do are insufferable. like most things there are good and bad. its all how you navigate it. Yes some people take it too far and try too hard but as an adult i rarely run into that on my feeds.

I just use Facebook messenger. Reception in my house is abysmal but the Wi-Fi works great so I use that for messaging friends. Last I used Facebook proper all it was really i had liked a bunch of pages that shared funny content.

I'm technically only still on Facebook for event invites. I don't post, nor do I read other people's posts.

I should probably just get rid of it but last time I did that my grandmother yelled at me for unfriending her.

If you made a Facebook account in the past the account still exists even though you closed it. Ive closed and reopened my Facebook account multiple times. It basically cant be deleted for real

I dont need fake friends & i dont care what douche #3458765 in Texas is doing or what he/she ate for lunch.

I have none of them, and never have. I'm not being obstinate or trying to be "different". I'm just not interested.

I have a lot of nosey family members and I like to keep my shit private so I don't have facebook. I have twitter but I don't post things, and I just follow for interests.

I thought if it stayed closed for so long it did delete? I thought you just had a window to re open it.

I have twitter but I mostly just use it as a news feed and never actually tweet anything so I'm not sure it really counts as social media

considering the quickly rising popularity of discord though I wonder if I'm gonna have to start including my discord account in that

A year ago i realized i was closing my facebook app and immediately re-opening it and i realized this is a colossal waste of my time. Deactivated and havent been on social media since.
