Maybe.

But he's certainly the most popular without a hatebase. For every 10 Miyamoyo or Sakurai fans there's ptobably 1 person who hates them with a passion for something they said or did. But basically nobody has a problem with Kojima.

Gabe's been so inactive in recent years though. He's basically coasting on Steam.

Only reason kojima is perhaos more well known than a lot of other devs is he makes fucking sure you know what games he made.

Mgs v was too over the top with it. Literally every level "written by hideo kojima" or something similar. Self inserted himself into 2 mgs games as a character/easter egg also.

Kojima is a wannabe filmmaker. He wants to be like Scorsese/Nolan/Kubrick/Spielberg, and wishes to be seen like them.

No other game designer has the deep affection for films than Kojima. There would be no point in hiring all these A-list actors if he didn't have this weird boner for Hollywood. VA's like Troy Baker and Nolan North are better at voice acting than hollywood actors. But instead we get Mads Mikkelsen and Norman Reedus in the project because of that weird "I want to be a film director and want to direct A-list Hollywood actors and pretend I'm a Hollywood super director."

The problem is, Hideo Kojima can't write for shit.

That's not really true. He just changed to doing things like hardware R&D. He's predominantly responsible for the development of the Index.
