it plays on the fear city people have of rural communities and isolated traditions. something like this has probably never happened in real life. but probably ever since Christianity took over Europe, people have spread rumors that stuff like this goes down in places.

Heaven's Gate was suicide.
Manson Family was just a weird murdering cult but they werent' pagans. and Waco was the governemtn's fault. I'm talking about this speficic thing from this movie or Wicker Man. a small village in rural europe where everyone worships an ancient pre christian religion and once a year they do a human sacrifice of an outsider. ...
