Airbnb has removed a racist host from its website after a viral video exposed the woman bias toward the group of Black guests in New York City. A representative for the online platform that facilitates homes being shared sent an email to NewsOne saying that the host was removed from the platform.

The swift action came after the video showed the unidentified Asian woman using the word monkey in a derogatory reference to Meshach Cisero and his friends.

The language used in this video is unacceptable and has no place in the Airbnb community, the statement said. We have a strict nondiscrimination policy, which we are enforcing to remove the host from our platform. We are supporting Mr. Cisero and his friends in getting them a new place to stay through our Open Doors policy. Were thankful to them for bringing this to our attention so we could take action.

The Open Doors policy makes sure guests facing discrimination are able to have an alternate place to stay. If a Guest anywhere in the world feels like they have been discriminated against in violation of our policy in trying to book a listing, having a booking canceled, or in any other interaction with a host we will find that Guest a similar place to stay if one is available on Airbnb, or if not, we will find them an alternative accommodation elsewhere, the policy states in part.

It can be really stressful using Airbnb as a black person. It's crazy how racist a lot of this country still is, and how so many of them feel they have the right to be racist in their business ventures

Woman deserves to be booted for the slurs. There is no excuse for that kind of racism.

However, the listing clearly says 4 guests only, and this black dude showed up with 4 other friends without telling her. So he basically lied to the host and made the booking under false pretenses, not thinking he needed to follow the rules or respect this woman's property requirements.

He deserved to be kicked out for that, but he did not deserve the racist stupidity.

Looks like the host expected four guests but found five. Airbnb hosts can (and often do) charge extra for each additional guest, so that seems to be where the argument started. As far as calling them "monkeys", I would surmise that this was used in a derogatory manner and not a general statement; though I'm sure someone will defend it by saying she probably calls everyone monkeys...

He questioned her about the language of her ad, all she had to do was say "well, your reservation says 4 people and since there are 5 i will have to charge you an extra fee"...Simple. There really is no reason for you to be going in on him about how he's "in the wrong" and all that nonsense.

It's not that simple. Airbnb's insurance for hosts will only cover what was booked. If there was any alterations, the host insurance will not cover anything. So she would have to amend the booking through Airbnb (which is a pain in the ass), or cancel it... We don't know which path she wanted to go about doing so since the video is short.

It's definitely possible, but she's an idiot, either way - if she said it on her own OR if it was a kneejerk reaction to racist comments that we don't hear.
