Multiplayer in the first 3 was great, but thats about it. The campaigns always suffered from having overly long levels.

I spent a ton of hours playing Halo 1 online (PC) by messing around in glitch servers. Driving outside map boundaries, Warthog jumping on top of cliffs, etc.

In my senior year of HS, we had a group of 8-12 friends that had a bunch of LAN parties with Halo 2. Towards the end, I introduced the group to a bunch of modded maps, such as a Halloween-themed Blood Gulch that replaced Banshees with broomsticks.

Halo 3 was like the only online game I played for the first few years of the 360 generation. Getting all the achievements was actually fun, but incredibly frustrating. I pretty much quit taking competitive online games seriously after Halo 3 though.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like Halo 5.

But yeah, Halo is such a venerable institution. It's sad seeing it be kind of nothing. I'm hoping they build it back up this E3.

I would like it to move on from the Flood/Covenant. Get back to more tactical combat & vehicles. I've always found Halo's vehicle combat more satisfying than Battlefield's.

Halo 1 is one of my favorite games of all time.

Halo 2 was the first online multiplayer game I got into so I remember it for that.

Everything after 2 was progressively worse. Franchise is irrelevant to me after 2.

They did move on from the Flood though. Not counting the Halo Wars series, they haven't been in a game since Halo 3. They'll never abandon the Covenant though. They're the most popular enemy in the series. Why exactly would you want them to anyway?

Tbh I thought the Kilo-Five trilogy was a great place to take the story

I'd have preferred if the games went in that direction. Hell, before details on 4 was announced that's what I thought the series post-war would become. A more spy-y and political story dealing with humanity's position in the galaxy and how it deals with internal strife, rebuilding, ONI's shenanigans, and the Covenant Remants

Halo 5s not a good game, Halo 1,2,3, ODST, and Reach were much better.

Halo 4 and 5 are just there, and even of those two Halo 4 is more fun then Halo 5.

I agree 100% with this. The campaigns in the first 3 games were so boring to me... even on the hardest difficulty you knew you only had to struggle to the next checkpoint one try at a time and it eliminated the tension.

The multi-player (3 perfected it) was top notch. I didn't play a whole lot of H1 multiplayer... but remember learning all the 'super bounces' in 2... and playing hours a day of H3 multiplayer team doubles with a room mate. Loved H3.

All the Halos have been good.

There are differences in how good, and it's usually limited to certain areas. They're all overall high quality games.

It is dependent on what you're playing though. BR starts still exist in BTB. And the BR is frequently used in the new mode, Warzone. Halo 5's weapon sandbox is the best one in the franchise though. While precision weapons are still king, automatic ones are definitely worth using. Every Halo game prior to 5 had at least a couple weapons that just weren't good. But Halo 5 has no truly bad weapon. Also most weapons have a couple extra variants with unique designs and names that are usually more powerful than the base version. An example is a special Carbine called Blood of Suban that fires needler rounds. They're generally only used in campaign, Warzone, and special matchmaking playlists. They are incredibly fun to mess around with though.

1-3 were pretty good. Campaigns were pretty great even though I remember the story being slightly hard to follow, and multiplayer was great.

I didn't really care much for some of the spinoffs and 4 was when they outright started sucking.
