So to answer in more detail, there's definitely a chance this woman could be scamming me in this regard, but she does give a lot of good signs

- she's not all that close with her family. her dad lives far away, her mom's side she hates with a passion. that the usual "I'll do anything to support my family" type of filipina
- she lives in manila. not the poorest part of the philipines
- has never asked me for money
- known her for a year at this point
- I have spoken with her over the phone and video chat

but there are some small flags

- she is clingy
- she did ask me to borrow my hulu account. I did not let her
- she does have issues with money

Aren't you concerned about being judged by literally everyone? I don't think I've ever seen a positive, non-toxic example of a long-distance relationship between some Westerner and someone from the Philippines. In almost every single case that I've heard of (and personally experienced, through people/acquaintances I know), there's always this depressing air of "the Westerner" being extremely insecure, and "The Filipina" being opportunistic and mainly attracted to you being a Westerner over anything else.

Filipina dating is the best. I remember going to meet her family and all the dudes were all chill af smoking cigars and boasting about how lucky they were while all the women got together and made the best meal in existence.

Also all the kids were super chill as well and not little jackasses like white kids all are.

Filipinas are generally great women for a lot of reasons, although I've only ever dated two of them that were already over here with their families (lots of them live in my city).

I don't know how I'd feel about doing the whole "mail order bride" thing essentially. Just doing the long-distance thing with someone is already troublesome enough, but more so when they're in another country. Is it even realistic to meet with them in a decent amount of time (like not waiting years and years to do it, and ideally more than once), go through all the steps in bringing them over here, etc. Then there's the obvious negatives like how many guys is she talking to/seeing right now, and what her real intentions are. Is she just looking for a way out? I've seen enough smoking hot eighteen year olds on the arm of your generic old, bald, fat dudes to get a feel for what they're willing to do in order to escape the shackles of poverty.

I've honestly thought about it in the past during times when I was having zero luck with women or couldn't seem to get a lasting relationship. In the end I just didn't think it was practical at all, and decided I'd rather a woman like me for me and not just my status or what I could provide (although.. good luck with that even over here, mirite?) If you're tired of being alone and feel you truly don't have any other alternative, I'd say have fun but proceed with caution. Work toward meeting her ASAP, and then definitely keep an eye out for red flags then and in the meantime.

Edit: I will say that the fact that you've known her for a year and she hasn't asked for money at all is encouraging, unless she's playing the long game lol. If she seems like she's pushing a little too hard to be official/get married I'd probably be a little concerned. The clingy thing is pretty standard among Filipinas I think. They tend to get fiercely jealous, although usually not in a crazy way as far as I can tell.
