Is it a show about the true story of what happen

or is it a sci fi thing where they are dealing with horrors of the event like killing monsters

True story as far as I can tell. In the third episode, there are lots of penises. You'll be like "whoa shit look at all those penises yikes"

at first I thought it would be like that movie chernobyl diaries but it's a definitely more realistic story

I agree, at least Jennifer Lawrence used a Russian accent in Red Sparrow.

They do mix in Ukrainian when media is being played (radio, emergency announcements, the writing, the signage)

So just imagine its magic where dialogue between characters is being translated for us in real time

Yes but it's just really lazy and especially mixed with the Ukrainian it feels really off

I've only seen episode 1, even by the end it was weird af hearing those Ukrainian names in English accents

It threw me off too at first but I just see it as a dub like with anime. It helps me suspend the thought that the people all speak perfect english.

Gonna start it later today, it's getting good reviews

The accents thing is worse when some people sometimes try for Eastern bloc influenced affects because doing so implies these accents do matter but then the rest of the show is Downton Abbey

I'm gonna say it.

It's a good show, but I don't see how it's "9.7/10" on IMDb good plus the amount of either straight bullshit they came up with or actual shit they changed for "dramatic" effect kind of ruins it for me (as someone who's read about it a lot and knows most of what happened irl).
