I live in the county that is in the very upper-left corner of Alabama. So a lot of my friends and co-workers live in Tennessee. Honestly, the most backwards people are those Tennessee people, as they live in a very backwater part of the state -- that is to say from my apartment, you'd have to drive 100 miles through Tennessee to get to the nearest Walmart in that direction (although there are two Walmarts in my town).

I have a good idea of which county and specifically which city you probably live in based on this. >_>

Please post your guess then. Id be amused if you guessed correctly (although the county is a given. I already said its the very top-left.).

Florence! I been there.

I was gonna say that. Though, I believe Florence has three Walmarts now. You ever been to UNA to see the lions?

I live in alabama and most people I know think this is pretty dumb other than the hardline pro lifers.

Our state politics is just fucked. This is what happens when identify politics run wild. People who are strongly against abortion will never vote for the party that's for it and strongly economically conservative people will vote someone into office that aligns with that even if they dont necessarily agree with them on social issues.

Yulp! Moved here to attend UNA from which I graduated. But boy oh boy, for all the topics I see here about universities being liberal indoctrination centers, let me tell you UNA was definitely a conservative indoctrination center. So much so, that I often wondered if I was in Sunday School.

Still wanna know _Rinku_s guess.

Alabama is pretty bad. Mississippi is pretty bad. Pretty much every southern state without a major city is bad. I would say Louisiana is not in the bottom tier of southern states for that reason, personally.

Which southern state doesn't have a major city??

Both Alabama and Mississippi. Arkansas. West Virginia, if you consider that southern (highly contentious in my experience). South Carolina.

I don't know your qualifications for a "major city" but all of those states have big cities.

The biggest city in South Carolina is less than 200k...

If it isn't a top 50 metro it is not large. tbf Birmingham is on the cusp.

200k sounds like a lot of people to me

Get out of the sticks son. There are music festivals that attract more than 200k.

What flavor of Skoal do you prefer?

Also what's the best bleach for white sheets?

Oh yeah, I often forget about that other Walmart that is basically just a Publix. I rarely drive that way.

But yeah I graduated from UNA. Those poor lions. Their cage doesnt give them much room to run around. Its like one step above a doggy crate.

I always felt bad for them. A wild animal living in an enclosure not much bigger than my living room seems miserable. They're getting close to the end of their lifespan too.

BTW Midwesterners & Southerners who hate California, be sure to send your subsidies back to Sacramento.

BTW California has a $22 billion surplus, good weather, plus technology and culture which defines modernity.

Git gud scrubs.

It's all relative. I know someone who moved from NYC to a city in the midwest of 300k and they said it's a ghost town

Alabama is ass but unless you enjoy living in the 1860s you'd be pretty dumb to pick Mississippi over it

Alabama is just stuck in the 1930s
