So a lot of my friends and co-workers live in Tennessee. Honestly, the most backwards people are those Tennessee people, as they live in a very backwater part of the state -- that is to say from my apartment, you'd have to drive 100 miles through Tennessee to get to the nearest Walmart in that direction (although there are two Walmarts in my town). This is what happens when identify politics run wild. But boy oh boy, for all the topics I see here about universities being liberal indoctrination centers, let me tell you UNA was definitely a conservative indoctrination center. Pretty much every southern state without a major city is bad. I would say Louisiana is not in the bottom tier of southern states for that reason, personally. I don't know your qualifications for a "major city" but all of those states have big cities. The biggest city in South Carolina is less than 200k... If it isn't a top 50 metro it is not large. tbf Birmingham is on the cusp. 200k sounds like a lot of people to me Get out of the sticks son.
