Web of Shadows could have used that treatment. I don't think you can naturally cause PS4 Spidey to pause and load in more assets, but you could in WoS if you upgraded the swing speed.

Goddamn. If it's backwards compatible I might consider buying it fast.

It'll probably still have a buttload of annoying graphical pop-ins... actually, probably even worse to achieve that level of "load time".

Custom SSD, which will be badly-undersized and overly-expensive.
Again, the industry is just following Nintendo's lead.

Yuck. Why would they do this? I hope you can still just drop in your own SSD like the last two systems.

Because games, especially x86-target multiplatform/multiconfig games, are getting increasingly bloated and gross, and HDDs just can't spin any faster without disintegrating.

The first year of PS5 will be an awesome time for PS4.

Spend the first year of PS5 going to town on PS4 and then PS5 will be cheaper with a library.

Or buy the priciest buggiest version of ps5 and skip over good ps4 deals.

Don't see any reason why it wouldn't be both. Games these days just install from the disc anyway.

This seems like less of a look how great the PS5 is moment than a look how shitty the PS4 Pro version is moment. Why would they proudly showcase (let alone release) a game stuttering that badly.

They're using developer tools to show that the game is incapable of going that fast on PS4 Pro without stuttering. Players aren't able to do that. Spider-Man's speed is purposefully limited to avoid it.
