Discovered the PC LAN community keeping it alive last night and had more fun playing an online game than ive had in like 15 years.

Oh that takes me back. Some great fun when I was at college!

The first thing I thought last night was this is an online shooter in its purest form without any of the unnecessary bullshit that came after it.

No walking and sprinting, you just friggin move at one speed. No holding a button to aim and another to fire, you just friggin shoot. No awkward clunky cover system, you just stand behind a wall and friggin lean over. NO GODDAMN MATCHMAKING, you join a room, play with the same people over and over that you get friendly with and work as a true team. No clusterfuck of everyone talking on the mic and playing shitty rap in the background, each person gets a maximum of like 10 seconds to speak at a time first come first serve. Each map is designed specifically for one mission type, theyre not all tacked on to every map with horrible balance between teams. No health recovery or respawns so you need to be tactical and strategic. No Goddamn grinding or pay to win DLC, everyone has the same gear options.

Its pure bliss.

TC Socom 2 was easily the GOAT multiplayer game but no one in this day and age knows about it.

The game actually took legitimate skill as far as a shooter goes and was super fun. Something about the way the player moves combined with the strafing and crosshairs aiming which they ruined in S3 and beyond. S3 was still fun though

I just googled if theyre ever gonna bring back Socom 1/2 but only really found info about this game called H-Hour
