Its just funny seeing these proposed laws be mockingly called Sharia Christian when, in fact, Islam would clearly not support a law that forces you to bear a child conceived by rape.

According to that infographic rape abortions require the approval of both parents and abortion is otherwise not at all permitted especially not for financial reasons.

Islam would support requiring four male witnesses to confirm the rape exists in the first place though, so I don't really think you're going to win this argument by suggesting Islam is somehow more progressive than a tiny amount of asshole christian fundies with an agenda.

Roughly 75% of the country is opposed to an abortion ban.

In islam, they have the belief that the woman is the property of the man, so i find it hard to believe theres any sort of debate in that region

*spouses, not parents man. Theyre referring to physical/mental inability to raise a child when they say both spouses (again, spouses i.e. not some rapist and their victim)

Oh for sure, Im referring specifically to them, I know the whole U.S. isnt like that. Just calling out the use of Shariah when referring to them; they seem to be even more anti-abortion.

I always thought that when people say "Sharia Christianity", it wasn't that "Islam would agree with this", but more just a statement that people are trying to basically legislate their religion into law.

I don't take it to mean that they feel that they're literally trying to enforce Sharii'a--just that they're trying to impose their religiously driven morals as laws.

Which is a problem for spousal rape. A husband decides he wants a kid, but the woman doesn't. They can't use contraception or pull out unless they both approve, she requires multiple witnesses to report a rape, and after 40 days she can't abort unless it's literally killing her without her husband's approval.

EDIT:
But as others have said, they're borrowing the word because Christianity doesn't have a specific word for a theocratic government like Islam does.
