Basically the tube connecting the outer ear and inner ear doesn't work properly so it always feels clogged and I can always pop it as if I'm on an airplane. Whenever I pop it the pressure comes right back immediately.

The procedure to get it fixed is not covered by insurance at all, and it's $4,000.

I fucking hate this joke of a country. Health vs financial security should not be something human beings even need to consider.

I'd rather spend way less money to any country, enjoy a week long vacation, and have the procedure done for fucking pennies

So your hearing is literally perfect yet you're demanding the insurance company should pay?

I think that might be making it worse. Did they say what was wrong with your tubes? Because usually those tubes close due to pressure causing that frustrating feeling in your ears, but then after awhile it opens back up. Actively popping your ears might be doing more damage.

Wait is it "not covered at all" or is it you have to pay up to your deductible to have the procedure?

Since, you know, having a high-deductible plan that's how it works. Also it should allow you to put pre-tax funds into an HSA.

Yep, so now I get to live with the uncertainty of a regular CT scan that won't catch certain things. So I could be cured, or I could still be dying.

Who is your insurance provider? I assume it's a myringotomy which looks like its covered by basically every company and on a high deductible plan you would have to pay a few thousand $$$ anyway even if they do cover it.

My MRI got denied by my insurance, at the same hospital I work at, after a doctor said I needed one. After they denied it they asked if I wanted to seek other options, I said no it's cheaper to just go buy painkillers on the street. My back has hurt for 6 years. It's not quite as bad now but the pain was almost enough that I wanted to just kill myself. That's obviously what health insurance companies want too. I will not put up with it for another 40+ years though.
