Seems like a low-paying, anti-social hours, stressful, unappreciated job. Of course, this is all just looking in from the outside?

Not a nurse, but I always heard the pay was good for only a 2 year degree. And you get better pay with more education.

I think @NeonOctopus is a nurse.
I've seen him mentioning having to hold an old man's dong.

He is an EMT.

Do EMTs hold dongs that often?

co-workers either get along or they get as far as sabotaging your work, some physicians being dicks to nurses by being verbally abusive or negligent to their requests

This is what I came in here to say. I'm not a nurse but I've befriended lots as a pharmacy student and they all have lots to say about the borderline abusive and mentally draining work environment.

I'm a retired EMT who knew a lot of nurses on the job, and with s let of friends/family as nurses.

Basically from what I gathered, nurses make great money, but it's one of the most mentally draining, physically-destructive careers on the planet. It's a calling that you should only follow if you love the work.

You work absurdly long shifts that basically start at 10-12, but frequently that turns into 16+. You have almost no social life outside of your coworkers (who frequently also tend to be catty/manipulative towards RNs).

You often bear the brunt of combative patients berating you, and until you make it to an executive position, you end up with all manners of bodily fluid on you every shift.

It's the kind of work where you have to love the core of it (i.e. patient care, helping the sick) or else it will absolutely ravage your life.

Virtually all nurses I know are addicted to nicotine, caffeine, or both, probably because they're so sleep-deprived and broken down to the point they physically need drugs to keep them going.

Also after all is said and done, despite being good pay for a 2 year degree, it's also the kinda degree that's useless in the case that you bomb out and need to change careers.

So yeah, it's not great. (Interestingly you could say almost all the same above about EMTs lol)

I had no idea nurses were really well paid. What do you live? In my country, I'm pretty sure they're badly paid...but of course, most are NHS nurses, which means the taxpayer pays for them, which would explain the relatively low pay (or so they claim).

I'm in the U.S. They have two levels of nursing here, LPNs and RNs. LPNs are the lesser level but still make a decent living. RNs though, theyre usually paid very well, and have a lot of room for upward growth.

EMTs and medics meanwhile have some of the shittiest salaries in the country lol. Literally garbage men make almost twice as much as EMTs do in NYC.

Nurse Practitioner?

That's actually higher than RN. It's a doctoral level degree.

That's a regulation problem which will eventually be addressed as job vacancies increase the next 5-10 years and EMTs become more recognized as healthcare workers, and not volunteers from bumfuck, USA.

well the nurse is the only killer slower than the survivors so she cant really hope to catch them in a regular chase
but her ability to blink ahead and through walls and pallets makes her a top tier killer once you master how to play her.

but if you havent mastered her she is the weakest killer
lots of work goes into being a good nurse

But as far as this career field goes a nurse's pay scales up pretty good based on experience.

This^ I have a friend who is male nurse... he does 4 days on 3 days off each week and loves it. Spends a lot of time traveling.

Great gig if you like working with people and don't mind wiping the occasional ass

Pretty much all my friends are nurses.

The pay is fantastic. My bestie makes over a hundred thousand bucks a year.

A lot of times what happens is someone like a low earning tech will tell you they're a nurse to sound important, but they're not actual nurses, they just look like one. It's like a paralegal telling you he's a lawyer. They're very different things. Legit nurses make bank.

Horrific hours and job, though. Would never do it in a million years.

Also from I have been told by them, the main stress from the job is not from things like cleaning up shit or whatever, but from the patients, many of who are absolutely garbage human trash. You get the worst of the worst. Drug addicts who yell and scream and freak out demanding things. Welfare leeches who abuse the system. The most demanding, self centered men and women who treat the hospital as if it's a five star hotel. People that will treat the humans who's job it is to keep them alive, like total shit, and actively try to get them fired for imagined infractions.

In Sweden nurse pay is shit.

If you never worked in health care before and done the 3 year university bachelor's degree. The first income is around $2500 per month before the huge tax we have here. But yeah after working a while it can get higher of course.

I'm not yet a nurse, I'm whatever is under it, there isn't really a name for it in English. I'm closest to the patients doing the practical care, and whatever the nurse has delegated to me to do like wound care, medicine, subcutaneous injections like insulin or blood thinners etc.

I have worked like this 15 years and I have a bit higher pay than nurses have as their first income. I'm taking a break from the education tho, I have 1 semester left, the dissertation and one failed final.

I'm gonna demand at least $2800 with a promise of $3000 per month after I proved myself, if I ever finish my education.
