Ive never seen spoilers so abundant, for any tv show or movie.

All of Sunday night and all day Monday are guaranteed spoilers.

Could be on a completely unrelated subreddit, and youre suddenly reading about Arya and the Night King, Jaime and the brick, etc.

Shits lame as fuck, when youre only on the second season.

Id suggest staying off the internet until youre up to date.

This is one of the biggest shows in TV history. Cant expect people to not discuss it. I understand being upset about season 8 spoilers but anything else is fair game. Season 2 came out years ago.

Bruh I gotta watch 6 more seasons lol.

Hopefully with the finale next week, the spoilers will come to a screeching halt.

I get it man but you cant expect everyone else not to talk about it. Season 3 debuted six years ago.

They arent really spoiling that. Theyre spoiling current episodes, which kind of ruins any surprise for that characters story.

But yes I shouldnt have waited so long to start.

I don't watch the show, but my sister said that she has to watch it as soon as it comes on and ignore all internet and social media if she's watching on the slightest delay to avoid spoilers. Something about hundreds of memes being up by episode's end over a spoiler regarding a dog's ear. Or was it a wolf?

Sounds about right.

Probably a wolf, if in reference to one of the Starks.

what's worse imo are the people who are like "not spoiling anything, this is non-context, but" and then go on to spoil it anyway, like i'm too fucking dumb to figure their stupid hints

The internet isn't new, you should know better to avoid anything that mentions the show you're watching and aren't caught up on like plague if you care about spoilers

especially something as big as GoT

for some reason a bunch of CEmen and PotDers I noticed all decided to begin the show from season 1, in like the past month. and were all racing to try to get caught up. I only know of one person who actually managed to get caught up in time see the ending when it airs.

Again, Im not not actively on any subreddits or topics regarding GoT.

Im finding them in places they shouldnt be.

Obviously I try to avoid it all, but when theres a post about it in UFC 3, what can I really do?

There really was a noticeable embargo on Endgame spoilers that most of the internet was kind enough to follow, because the buildup and follow through was good and worthy of respect.

Meanwhile Thrones is shitting all over itself and people are understandably pissed and need to vent.

All you can really do is accept that some people are assholes and avoid it.

I've only had something spoiled for me like once or twice. It's really hard to just throw a huge plot point out of nowhere that gets someone to read it before they realize what they're reading.

I don't even watch the show either, and my Twitter feed was half people live-tweeting it as it was happening. The other half was spam from Reuters and the Associated press. Clearly this is an internet event.

yeah need to stay away from the internet because spoilers are everywhere. popular shows and movies are spoiled. youll forget about it if you dont know what everyones talking about.

i avoided battlestar galactica spoilers for the longest but still got spoiled how it ended. people dont give af and i didnt know wtf they were talking about. i eventually forgot it after all these years. finally went back and now i am enjoying the series.

I think GoT sort of being shit this season has a lot to do with it. If it were Endgame quality, people would be a little quieter.

Despite television being "watch at your own leisure" these days, the mentality is still talk about the episode at the water cooler the next day. Only now the water cooler is the entire internet.

People are more considerate with movie spoilers. Though the internet is still a mine field for those, too.

The culture surrounding spoiling movies and tv series all goes back to the idea that TV is a live event and movies are an appointment event.

In a world not so long ago, if you missed an episode of your favorite TV series, you were SOL until you caught a rerun sometime, probably not for weeks. As a result the next day watercooler conversation wasn't "I wasn't able to watch NYPD Blue last night, don't talk about it", it was "I wasn't able to watch NYPD Blue last night, what happened?". It helped culturally lead to the idea that the spoiler period for TV was really short".

Movies by extension would have weeks long windows of availability. You didn't go see a movie opening weekend, no big deal you'll catch it later. So they carry a longer spoiler period.

Obviously the availability of television has dramatically changed in the last two decades, but instead of extending the spoiler period, nothing changed. Between DVRs, streaming, and on demand, TV is so available, that the new assumption is that if you couldn't find time to watch it within a day of it coming out, then you just don't care.
