Because they now know that you know and because you know theyre a lying pile of horse shit, theyre wasting their time talking to you when they could be trying to get another poor sod to fool into believing their smoke and mirrors sales pitch.

Not all of them, some get angry, fake indignation, or try and talk their way out of it and convince you otherwise. For those that do hang up I imagine they're see it as a waste of time staying on the phone any longer and would rather move on to the next mark in the hopes for a payout. Less time spent on calls that won't get a payout mean they can make more calls overall and potentially get more money.
