Like seriously fuck Kings Landing they cheered when Ned Stark was killed and went along with all the BS during all the seasons those people literally deserved it after staying there and not leaving.

I like how they tried to make it seem like Dany was a bad person and poor Cersei crying like lmao xD

I mean, as of now she IS a bad person. It was only a matter of time until those bad days stacked up. She's never been one to keep impulse in check. The true subversion of expectations would have been having her not go nuts.

PS: Sansa is at least 30% responsible for Dany's turn.

PPS: I'm pretty sure most people who are outright pissed at the episode are pissed at Jaimes entire arc being shit on.

GRRM once explained that before he started writing the series, he envisioned snow settling on a burnt down keep with everyone dying over a pointless war that could have been averted easily many times. I'm trying to see if I can find that quote.

I mean, this wasn't impulsive like her usual darker moments. She decided the night before the battle she was going to murder people until everyone was too afraid to oppose her and waited until the enemy surrendered and she had won before doing it. She made a conscious, thought out decision that she'd rather be a tyrant than accept that she wasn't actually the long sought after liberator everyone in Westeros has been pining for all along.

They ruined Jamie's entire redemption arc.

Cersei got killed in a cop out. She didn't die like the prophecy.

Clegainebowl was insanely underwhelming for being hyped for 5 years now.

They destroyed 8 years of Dany will be a good queen in 30 seconds.

They turned Tyrion into an idiot.

trying to make us feel bad for cersei? foh

dany going mad queen is fine, i just don't like what was the final straw. they should have saved killing someone or thing important to her for this episode. or killed grey worm and she saw it. he's the last person fully loyal to her. but she wins, bells ringing and the city surrenders....and now she goes mad queen? i don't get it.

1. Ya, a little bit.

2. Dany has green eyes too.

3. Two lower tier characters got a pretty great ending.

4. Theyve been pointing to Dany maybe not being a great queen for the last two seasons.

5. Ya this season hasnt been great for Tyrion and he should head for the hills.

Real talk the people of King's Landing are mostly trash from what the viewer has seen (even then that's generalizing of course) but there's almost no reason why Daenerys should have thought that or burnt the whole city down. They surrendered to her, they already feared her. At this point Kings Landing has no people to rule, so what's the point?

Also, her going mad was a very quick progression these past two episodes. Of course everyone predicted she would go mad but the way it was presented was so poorly. Most of her previous violent acts were justified (crucifying those dudes, killing royals to free slaves, etc), hell more justified than most of the lords and kings in the show. Yet she throws it all away because no one loves her? Lool fuck off with that shit.

She locked her friend and a Master inside a vault with no way to escape.

She burned alive all of the Dothraki leaders inside of a tent.

Except she didn't win.

Sure, she won the battle. Sure, she'd initially sit on the iron throne. But once the dust settled, the usual politics of Westeros would choose Aegon Targaryen. Doesn't matter that he doesn't want it. The secret was already out, to an unknown extent, but at least to one of the only remaining powers in Westeros (the north with Sansa), with the only other unknown being Dorne.

Dany knew she had lost at that moment if she accepted the surrender. Completely leveling the city so as to invoke such fear was her only play. Sure, it subverts our expectation that she was the exception of Targaryen nature. But both the books and the show hammer home the point--Targaryens are mad. "The gods flip a coin" blah blah blah.

And the series is called a Song of Ice and Fire. Ice and Fire. Stark and Targaryen. Jon Snow. Aegon Targaryen. His fire is tempered by his half Stark blood. It's both poetic and been foreshadowed ever since they revealed his origins.

Plus, there have always been hints at Dany's wrathfulness. It's just she has always been kept in check partly due to her beloved advisors (jorah now dead, Mellisandre now dead, Tyrion no longer reliable).

King's Landing is the capital, but it is not included in the seven kingdoms.

Destroy King's Landing. Rule from Dragonstone until KL is rebuilt, installing loyal liege lords in all the remaining realms.

It would eventually repopulate. It would take years for sure, but it would help in preventing another rebellion. Westeros went through the rebellion that installed the Baratheons onto the throne. It went through another rebellion after the Lannister coup. The power vacuum led to a few more conflicts up north and in the riverlands, and also destabilized Dorne for a short time. Not to mention the north having dealt with the brunt of the white walker "threat." This was all in a single generation.

After Dany winning by total conquest again, there would be no motivation for a revolt, even if the people preferred Jon Snow. And he wouldn't rebel against her.

But if she accepted surrender, there is enough political willpower to remove her after the typical politics of Westeros.

Those weren't "mad" things. She killed people that were doing terrible things, 100% justified. She now killed a bunch of innocent people for no reason.

This is the same Daenerys that locked her dragons up after burning a child, the same one that killed men for rape, etc. It wasn't a steady descent over time into madness, like the other Targaryens, she just fell off in the last two episodes lol

Idk how people think going from killing enemy leaders who won't submit is the same as killing old people, women, children, and even her own people who were there to fight for her. And all of that after her enemies already surrendered.

It's like they went from step 1 through 3 in the first 7 seasons, and then in one episode skipped straight to 10 on the madness scale.

This. Ever since she came to Westeros she lost her Dothraki, half of the Unsullied, the iron fleet, the Tyrells, 2 dragons, Jorah, and Missandai. The man she fell in love with and fought his war for turns out to be her nephew and has a better claim to the throne. She asks him to keep it a secret knowing it will fuck things up and 5 mins later he is telling his whole family.... because Jons an idiot who apparently didnt inherit Neds ability to hold on to a secret. When her Hand found out Tyrion blabbed about it instead of going to her and her other advisor started sending ravens out.

Not only that but she has tried 4 times to take Tyrions advice and let Cersei surrender, the last time Cersei beheaded her best friend whose last words were Dracrys.

I mean all this shit happened in 2 seasons, not too sure what the hell people thought was going to happen.
