29 y/o Shanell DeRieux from Utah is raising awareness for the marriage laws in Colorado after her gross polygamist family PUSHED her to cross state lines after they FORCED her to MARRY her FIRST COUSIN at 18!!

She and her 2 half sisters traveled to Colorado with their cousins and parents in a 15 passenger van to get married in the states on July 3, 2009.

She was born and raised as a member of the Davis County Cooperative Society, a polygamist sect known a the "The Order". Her father, John Daniel Kingston was the one who signed the witness to the weddings

She told the media "Oh my gosh, i couldn't even tell you how many of my cousins have married cousins. My family was sick and i was brainwashed to love only people in my own family"

It's illegal to marry a cousin in Utah unless both are 55 or older and unable to reproduce but it is legal in Colorado

Her dad had THREE WIVES and her sisters were 16 at the time but were given consent to marry their adult cousins who were 22

Colorado doesn't require an officiant or a ceremony to marry which made it easy for them to get married

The wedding day marked the beginning of the abuse and her marriage certificate made it diffcult to leave as she didn't choose to get married

Shanell says she DOESN'T believe cousins should be allowed to marry

Now she, her half sisters Andrea and Jessica escaped the sect and divorced her hideous husbands and star in a Lifetime documentary called "Escaping Polygamy"

She helps others like her live away from their families and on their own in a new life

Shanell was told by her dad that she had to start praying for which COUSIN she wanted to marry to help build the "Order" and the "offspring"

She said the only choice a woman has in there is to get pregnant and build a population of inbreeding and though she fought tooth and nail 10 years ago not to marry her cousin, she eventually did it just to SHUT THEMU P and leave her alone about marriage

She finally left her husband in 2010 and moved to Montana and worked in a coal mine

She was also abused by him who THREW her down the stairs and pinned her on the bed as he plead guilty to misdemeanor and served one day in jail

She has now remarried who is not part of the group as Shanell is now fighting to have any incest marriage, including cousins to be BANNED as she knows how dangerous inbreeding has done to her family first hand

Shanell also shared a photo of her as a teen as EVERYONE in the photo were engaged in INCEST!!

Her forced marriage is why she's mad. Her reason for banning cousins makes no sense.

Anyway cousin marriage is legal in most of the planet
